The following is a brief tutorial on how to use Sierra Web. If you are having technical issues using Sierra Web, please submit an IT ticket.
Browsers
- You may access Sierra Web from any device with an Internet browser.
- For the best performance, please use either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
- Use a stable internet connection – WiFi or ethernet
Address
- The address to access Sierra Web is:
Logging in
- Log in using your regular Sierra credentials, just as you would for desktop Sierra.
- Your Sierra user account must have specific permissions to access Sierra Web. If you are unable to log into Sierra Web and need access, please have your manager submit an IT ticket to provide you the needed permissions.
Using Sierra Web
- You can use all the functions you would normally use in Sierra Desktop, including check-out, check-in, search, & patron registration.
- RFID pads WILL NOT work with Sierra Web
- Barcode scanners WILL work with Sierra Web
Exiting
- To exit Sierra Web, DO NOT JUST CLOSE THE BROWSER.
- You must select “File” -> “Exit” and wait for the session to close before closing the browser.
- If you do not do this, Sierra server will continue your session, creating performance issues for other users.
